Don’t confuse this list with the best movies of all time although several in my list would also be included in my all-time favorite movies. I am talking about the movies that seem to always be on TBS, TNT, AMC, HBO, etc. Movies that you are likely to see at 1 PM on a Saturday or a rainy Tuesday night. They are movies that if you are flicking through the channels you always stop on. It doesn’t matter at what point in the movie it is. You just watch. I am talking about those kind of movies. As usual feel free to throw in your two cents in the comments section. Without further ado:

10.) Ghostbusters 1 and 2 - I was obsessed with Ghostbusters growing up. I had everything and anything Ghostbusters. I tried to change my name to Ray for a year. I would only call my sister Janine. I was fucking obsessed. I still love the movies but I will admit I’ve grown out of a bit. I will 100% stop and not change the channel if I see the original however, I will admit, there are times I have just kept flipping when I’ve seen number 2 on.

9.) Tommy Boy - Like a fine wine this movie gets better with age. Each time I watch I like it more and more. I think a little bit has to do with the Chris Farley biography I read a few years back and liked it. He just seemed like a great guy and everyone thought he was the balls. I think because of that and the fact that he hasn’t had a chance to make more bad movies (see Beverly Hills Ninja) I have held him a better light than I probably should. Also, his Best of SNL is one of the tops along with Ferrell, Murphy and Carvey.

8.) Meet the Parents - Yeah, dumb pick, right? Probably but it is one of the few films that I enjoy Stiller in (probably this and Zoolander - hate him in everything else). He was made to play that part. It is also the last role I like DeNiro in before he just becomes a joke. Lastly, I LOVE Owen Wilson in this movie. The dialogue between him and Stiller just kills me every time. A nice early Sunday cable movie.

7.) Revenge of the Nerds – For some reason I’ve always been obsessed with this movie (commenter: because you were a fucking geek). I think they did a great job casting the nerds. You find yourself pulling for them the whole time. I also love the scene where they throw a party and it sucks but then they smoke weed and invite the Moose’s (the fat sorority) and shit just gets wild.  The original reason I think I liked was it was one of those movies that I could rent with my father at the movie store that showed naked girls (panty raid scene) but he had no clue. (This is also why I would rent horror movies all the time – always had nude scenes).

6.) Bloodsport – If this was 1996 this might be number 2 or 3 but for some reason it has lost a little bit of the luster it once had. I can’t get enough of the fight scenes. I love how each fighter got their own unique style and shit. My favorite? The guy that fought and moved like a monkey. Yes, he was black.

5.) Rocky 1,3 or 4 – I’d rather go outside and do physical activity than watch Rocky 5. Rocky 2 just doesn’t do it for me. Too much of the same story line from Rocky 1 and not enough boxing. Although I think Rocky 1 is the better movie I love Rocky 3 the most. I love all the Mr. T scenes and I really love the homosexual run Apollo and Rocky do on the beach. My college roommate had that scene down shot for shot.

4.) Hoosiers – The best hoops movie of all time (second: Hoop Dreams). Has all the great elements, underdogs, redemption and a great fucking drunk. I get tears when Shooter is screaming in the rehab bed listening to the game on the ol’ radio. I am getting goosebumps just typing it.

3.) Godfather 1 and 2 – Usually on AMC every other week and if I see it I’m watching. I prefer the sequel to the original but it really doesn’t matter which flick is on. It is one of the ultimate Sunday night movies. I don’t why but I just feel like it is best enjoyed after 6 PM on a Sunday.

2.) Dumb and Dumber – I touched on it a long time ago but Dumb and Dumber for me is the barometer in which all comedies should be compared to. There isn’t one fucking line in this movie that doesn’t crack me the fuck up. Just pure comedy and don’t tell you keep flipping the channels when you this puppy on the screen.

1.) Goodfellas - The fucking best. The movie has all the right actors, all the right drama, all the right comedy and all the right violence. A straight masterpiece. I’ve scene this movie over 100 times and if I see it on later tonight I’m watching. It doesn’t matter where I pick up in the flick. It is obviously better to find it on Starz or HBO so that they don’t bleep out all the swears but honestly doesn’t matter. I just never get tired of this movie.
